The disappearing pillar

2009

Installation of wood, plate-glass, glue, aluminium, screws
Size: height 5m and 9m wide

The installation doubles space in the gallery. There is a rhythmic pattern of real space and mirrored space.
The visitor can see in one view what is in front and what is behind. Because of this you experience space in another way.
The inspiration for the installation is the zero meridian which is near the gallery.
The construction with mirror lathes has been built exactly on the North-South line.
The earth and everything, what is on it, is turning around, from left to the right when you face the North.
What is left behind is the memory of what has been: a reflection of light.
