Reflection was made for the exhibition: "the Koran through Dutch eyes".
It is a mirror in which you cannot see yourself.
It consists of a mosaic in relief, made of plate-glass. It is based on an ancient Arabic pattern.
The artwork refers to the religious prescribed reserve in portraying people. The artwork also refers to the long Islamic tradition to decorate buildings with geometrical mosaic patterns.
The mirror gives another image of reality and gives the possibility to think that there is another reality.
If the mirror was placed in another surrounding, there was another image of it . In a white surrounding, the mirror was related to the artwork of Schoonhoven.
