Biography




Statement:

My work is about the hidden reality. I reduce the visual reality to a number of essential aspects, that find their origin in how reality can be defined: by time, space and place.

By using the course of daylight, artificial light, movement, reflections and viewing direction and by making rhythmic exhibits, that I relate to the rotation of the earth and to the location, there will be formed a reality that was hidden before.

I work location specific and site specific. I place my installations often in landscape , where the connectedness with nature and the former inhabitants is still perceptible and clear. The history of a place, memory and the expiration of time are recurring aspects in my work.

I often use mirror images, symmetries or reversals in my work. For instance I use plastic bags filled with clear water, in which the world is visible as in a sort of hologram, and upside down. I also use small long pieces of plate-glass. With these I make rhythmic structures. Because of this you see more images from different viewing directions at the same time and together. Another experience of time and space arises: a hidden reality that is permanently present.
